2 months old

A letter from my mom:

Dear Carolyn,

Today you are two months old. It goes without saying that time is going quickly and that you have changed a lot these past weeks. Sometimes it seems like you change day by day. My friend said that babies can be like little chameleons as they change so much and that is totally true. I take pictures of you (almost daily) and you look different day to day. People comment on the fact that you already seem to have such a distinct personality and response to the world at such a young age.
You are a very happy baby most of the time. When you see us in the morning you give us the best smiles and seem so thrilled to have our company. As I unwrap you from the swaddle blanket you stretch your arms high above your head, arch your back and kick out your legs. Then you smile and squeak. It is certainly a nice way to start the day. The times when you are at your worst is when you are very tired. You just need to sleep and that seems to solve most of your problems. You are very curious about the world around you. You seem to like it when I carry you in the sling and you can peek out at what is going on. You also love to be sung to. I think I get the biggest grins when I sing a few off-key lines from "The Rainbow Connection." I'll have to memorize the rest of the song.

You had your first experience with air travel recently and you were perfect. We flew to Boston to introduce you to friends and family and although I was stressed about traveling with two kids it went pretty smoothly. Let's see how future trips go. Well, let's see what the future brings. It will be fun getting to know you in these upcoming months and there is quite a bit for us all to learn. You seem to really enjoy being part of our family and to be honest we can't seem to remember what it was like without you around. Please continue to be good to us :)

Love, Mommy
